It is with heaviness in our hearts to say that it was announced that today, legendary disco singer, Donna Summer (born LaDonna Adrian Gaines), has passed away. Summer was diagnosed with lung cancer, possibly caused by the toxic debris in New York City after the 9/11 World Trade Center Attacks. She was 63 years old.
She was the first artist ever to have three double albums consecutively hit #1 on the Billboard chart, and was very well known for her hits such as “Last Dance” , “On The Radio” and “Bad Girls”. Throughout her career, she received 17 Grammy nominations, winning five of them.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Sudano, and her three daughters, Brooklyn, Amanda, and Mimi.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her friends, family and fans. May she rest in peace.
