They’ve only toured the States twice: once on the Glamour Kills tour, and once on the first opening slot on Simple Plan’s “Get Your Heart On!” tour. Last night, Marianas Trench started their mini “Ever After” tour at Santos Party House in New York City. The 750 person capacity venue was filled wall to wall with fans coming out to see the Canadian quartet.
On their recent arena tour with Simple Plan, the band had a large “toyland” stage setup, complete with large children’s blocks with painted-on letters and the band’s toy soldier outfits. Even with the substantial decrease in stage size, the band managed to bring their stadium sized performance to the nightclub stage.
They opened with their epic intro to the album, “Ever After”, which brought an incredible wave of response throughout the crowd. Fans were dancing and singing along throughout the entire night, as requested by singer Josh Ramsay, who was ill. “We were about to cancel the show because I didn’t think I could do it, but I’m so glad we didn’t. Thank you so much,” he had said to the crowd.
Regardless of the illness, the group was on point the entire night. Ramsay was able to hit every note perfectly while taking a break from his bouncy stage presence, whereas bassist Mike Ayley and guitarist Matt Webb brought out their charming charisma. The band had cut the set short, as it became evident how much pain their singer was in. Ramsay had taken a seat and completed the rest of the set, closing with their single “Cross My Heart”. The crowd responded with a very loud “We love you!”. Every now and then, the look of distress would turn into a huge smile, thanks to the incredible crowd response, showing the love the group has for performing and their fans.
Update: Due to Josh’s sickness, Marianas Trench’s Ever After Tour is currently postponed. Updates will be posted on the status of the tour on our facebook page.
